Who is Jesus?
There are a lot of opinions out there on who Jesus is: prophet, political revolutionary, a wise teacher who urged people to do good deeds. Historical records and first-hand witness accounts from the Bible tell us that Jesus is much more than these things. His existence changed the course of human history, and continues to bring hope to our world today.
We have hope because
Jesus is the way to God
Jesus isn’t just an ordinary man. He is also the Son of God. Many have searched the depths of philosophy and religion to try and reach God. Christianity is different. By sending His son Jesus to this earth, God is the one who reaches out to us. God not only cares about us, but wants us to know Him.
We have hope because
Jesus died for us
Jesus did some incredible things while on earth. He healed the sick, raised people from the dead, befriended those rejected by society. But the most important thing Jesus did, odd as it sounds, is dying. By giving His life on the cross, Jesus paid the punishment for our sins. Through His death, we are forgiven and brought into relationship with God.
We have hope because
Jesus is alive today
Jesus didn’t stay in the grave. According to many reliable eye-witness accounts in the Bible, Jesus rose from the dead after three days. He demonstrated that He is the only one who has the power to defeat one of our biggest enemies: death itself. This gives us hope that death is not the end – that there is more beyond the grave.
We have hope because
Jesus is coming again
Jesus is still alive today. He is calling people to follow Him, transforming broken lives and giving people from all different walks of life a new sense of purpose. Jesus also offers this world real hope. A time is coming when He will wipe away every tear, put an end to suffering and make all things new. That’s something worth believing in.
